Common Questions

• What do I need? A Quest 3 or Quest 3S, a Mac, the Beamdesk macOS companion, and a local network shared by both devices.
• My Mac is not listed. Confirm the companion says it is running, keep both devices on the same LAN, and avoid guest Wi-Fi or VLAN isolation that blocks Bonjour/mDNS discovery.
• How do I pair? Open the Macs page in Beamdesk. Select the discovered Mac only after its six-digit code matches the code shown by the Mac companion.
• Nothing streams after pairing. Grant Screen Recording to Beamdesk in macOS System Settings, then stop and start the companion server so macOS rechecks the permission.
• Pointer or shortcuts do not work. Grant Accessibility to the stable Beamdesk app in macOS System Settings.
• The Quest asks for microphone access. Microphone routing is optional. Deny it if you do not want Quest mic audio sent to the active paired Mac.
• Room Awareness is unavailable. It is optional. Map the room in Quest Space Setup, enable Room Awareness in Beamdesk, and grant the Scene permission when prompted.
