Foolscap Privacy Policy

Short version

Foolscap has no ads, analytics, tracking SDKs, or developer-operated account system. Your documents are stored on your devices and in your private iCloud database so they can sync. Optional Gemini features send only the text you choose to Google.

Documents and iCloud

Your documents, templates, folders, signatures, and attachments are stored with SwiftData and Apple CloudKit. This content syncs through the iCloud account signed into your device. Apple processes that data under its privacy policy. Foolscap's developer does not use it for advertising, tracking, or profiling.

Optional AI drafting

Apple Intelligence drafting runs on your device. If you instead select Gemini, confirm the age and professional-use notice, and add your own API key, Foolscap sends the prompt and relevant document text directly to Google's Gemini API. The API key is stored in your device keychain and is not sent to Foolscap's developer.

Google states that unpaid Gemini API content may be used to improve its products and may be reviewed by people; do not send sensitive, confidential, or personal information. Paid Gemini API content is handled under Google's applicable terms. Review Google's Gemini API Additional Terms before enabling Gemini.

Photos, exports, and support

Photos or PDFs you choose are imported into the document. Exports are written only to the destination you select. Information you voluntarily include in a support email is used only to answer your request.
